Community Transformation

During the past four years we have partnered with a diverse group of area churches and ministered in a local low income public housing community. We send witnessing teams door-to-door to canvass the neighborhood a few days prior to the Saturday event. We hand out flyers about the upcoming event, gospel witnessing tracks, and share the gospel face-to-face. Then on Saturday, we set-up our 40x60 tent, bring in sound system, and most importantly, our ministry teams. We have a children's outreach in the morning consisting of fun, games, crafts, and culminating with a clear presentation of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We see kids make genuine commitments to Christ every time we go. Praise the Lord! We feed the kids lunch, which consists of hot dogs on the grill, chips, cookies and drinks. We continue to hang out with the kids and build relationships with them until later in the afternoon. We then have our adult outreach, which consists of praise & worship and the preaching of God's Word. Here again, we see people make commitments to Christ.

The third outreach of each year is the Saturday prior to Thanksgiving. We do all the above, but also distribute Thanksgiving meals (they will prepare) to every resident family in the housing project. We have been doing this in the Moyewood community (228 units) for over 4 years. We have checked police crime statistics specifically for their community and have seen God move powerfully in the area, which was confirmed by a 49% reduction in calls for police assistance after one year of our ministering to their neighborhood. We pray, prophesy, walk the land, build relationships with the people, proclaim God's Word boldly, use our spiritual weapons to destroy strongholds of the enemy, and then stand in awe of our Lord Jesus Christ as He pours out the Holy Spirit and saves, delivers and heals. Only He can transform lives and communities. All we do is obey and place our faith on the line for His glory!

We need your help! In 2006 we added an additional Greenville Housing Authority community (Kearney Park) to our mission. We plan to add Hopkins Park in 2007, and eventually be in all eight communities. We are looking for partnering churches and ministries that have a heart for the lost and are willing to send teams into the local mission field to co-labor with us in overcoming boundaries, stimulate community interaction, and share Jesus Christ, through fellowship, discipleship and lending a helping hand. We are believing the Lord for 50 local churches who will partner with us in this mission. If you would like more information, or if you are interested in partnering with us, please call Tony Potter, Director, God's Gracious Gift at 215-9042.
